I admit when I started seeing lavender lattes pop up everywhere I was like what? I wasn’t interested in trying it out until a friend of mine brought me one. Oh my Lavender Latte! What an interesting pairing of flavours and now I’m like yes please!
Of course I had to figure out how to make it on my own as I only buy coffee when I’m travelling or out all day and really need a coffee lol When I learned how easy it was to make lavender syrup myself I was thrilled as I have more than one espresso machine with milk frothing capabilities at home. We’re obviously coffee lovers haha
What kind of milk can you use?
I have had it with regular cow’s milk and the Silk Barista Almond Milk. The latter I was pleasantly surprised at how much foam I got with the almond milk and that for me the “almond” taste was not overpowering. I have found other almond milks to be too overpowering in a latte. You can also use oat milk for this latter.

As mentioned earlier I only buy lattes and other coffees if I’m travelling or away from home all day. Otherwise I make my own specialty coffees at home. It’s way easier on the wallet and I like my coffees better than any coffee shop. I’ve become rather picky about my coffee now lol
What if I don’t have a coffee machine and/or milk frother?
If you don’t have a coffee machine, consider stopping at your favourite coffee place to grab a
double espresso.
If you don’t have a coffee machine or milk frother you can heat the milk in a saucepan while
stirring with a whisk which will give a similar effect. I’ve also heard people have used a blender with the milk to get it foamy. Another alternative is an expensive handheld milk frother from Amazon. Check out our recipe card for other milk frother ideas.

You can use any type of milk to make this lavender latte. We’ve tried it with cow’s milk, oat milk and almond milk and they all work very well.
When steaming the milk keep the wand in the center of the milk and not too close to the surface. This creates a whirlpool and should increase the volume of the milk.
Slowly rotating the jug as you steam will produce a velvety smooth milk that doesn’t have large bubbles.
The steamed milk for a latte should not be any hotter than 160ºF or you risk scorching the milk.
To turn this into an Iced Latte, simply fill a glass with ice and pour in all the ingredients above.

Keep in mind there is less froth in a lavender latte compared to a cappuccino. When steaming the milk keep the wand in the center of the milk and not too close to the surface. This creates a whirlpool and should increase the volume of the milk by around double. Slowly rotating the jug as you steam will produce a velvety smooth milk that doesn’t have large bubbles.

Why you’ll love lavender lattes
- The reason I started making all of my lattes and mochas at home because it is far more economical. Even buying that one latte or mocha in the morning before heading to the office (that’s when I worked outside the home) it added up quickly when you’re looking at $4-$5 a pop.
- You control the quality and quantity of ingredients. A lot of coffee shops I found either their coffee was too bitter or if I got something like a mocha, way too sweet etc.. I like deciding what ingredients to use and how much lavender syrup I put in my lavender latte. It’s so easy to make them yourself.
- Lavender is know for having calming and stress relieving properties. Having one of these is a great start to the day or if you’re having a crazy morning a good reason to take a break and have one!
