We love this easy Chicken Queso Dip. It’s a delicious and hearty dip that is perfect for potlucks, game day or any get togethers. We also share how you can make it a Smoked Chicken Queso Dip. Serve with your favourite dippers whether that’s tortilla chips, crackers or a baguette.

Smoked Queso Chicken Dip

Do you love that smoked flavour in your dips? I know I do and it’s easy to do with this dip. You can just put it on the smoker for about 30 minutes. You’ll want the temperature to be about 350 and once the cheese is all melted you should be good to go. For a more intense smoked flavour you can lightly season the chicken with some smoked paprika which is another of of my favourite spices for a lot of smoked food or your favourite dry rub which I bet it includes paprika.

What is Queso Blanco?

You will see for this recipe that we’ve used Velveeta’s Queso Blanco. It is a versatile, unaged white cheese that is salty and firm with a more rubbery texture. So the texture is different than say feta or Ricotta but you can also crumble it over salads and cooked dishes. You can also slice it for a snack or in tacos or like we have here melt it for dips or quesadillas and other Latin American dishes.

Queso Blanco Substitutions

If you’re good with use an “orange” cheese then you can substitute with regular Velveeta cheese or I personally would go with cubing some blocks of cheddar cheese combined with sour cream or better yet in my opinion cream cheese.

If you’d like to stick with a white cheese the closest substitute that works (but tastes nowhere near the same imo) is some good ole Monterey Jack Cheese, even better I like one with jalapenos in it. If you can get Queso Blanco though use it because I think it’s the best one for this particular dip.
